I decided to revisit painting this term as it is something I haven't done since last year, this was influenced by my decision to revisit using the hand as subject matter. I chose to use my hands instead of a paintbrush, a technique I have used in painting before, because I think this gives the painting more texture, I like that my fingerprints become part of the piece and this works especially well when painting hands. I think I am interested in how the hand can recreate itself. The process of painting reminded me of artists I had been intersted in a few years ago, I felt the influence of Jenny Saville, who heavily influenced my early paintings, in the way I was adding texture.
