Ron Mueck creates hyperrealistic sculptures of humans while often experimenting with size. His works are extremely realistic and often scaled to a gigantic size which can make them unnerving. The detail in Mueck's work is so intense, from barely visible hairs to wrinkles, every sculpture resembles an individual human. While remaining realistic, Mueck's work can also take on a humorous theme, with playful exaggerations of features to make some sculptures appear comical. I find Mueck's work interesting primarily for the subject matter, the use of the human body within sculpture is the basis for most of my works.
