Using scraps of materials I made a smaller doll based on the dolls I made last year in Nylon People, I was also inspired by the works of Kristina Skantze. I was experimenting with a new way to attach the limbs, particularly the legs, I wanted the piece to have a more lifelike range of movements. I turned to Skantze's work and found that the legs are attached further up the hip with almost a flap of material holding it on, I tried to recreate this in my own work. I do feel that this new way of attaching the limbs was more successful as it could sit up and support it's own weight and move in a more human way, however due to the size of the legs I think the piece ended up more cartoon like and almost animated. Ideally I would have liked the legs to be thicker. The movement that this piece has reminded me of a puppet, hence the name.
