Through the use of social media, such as Instagram, I have been able to access many artists and works and gain ideas/inspiration for my own work. I can also share my own work and get feedback and critiques from other artists. I have found this useful to find works similar to mine and it is a way to inform my work.

Kristina Skantze

While searching for soft sculpture I found the works of Kristina Skantze, she is an artist and puppet maker. I instantly found an interest in Skantze's work as I found it to be visibly similar to my own however I was also inspired to find ways to make my sculptures better. I found through her work new ways to attach limbs and stitch faces to make the pieces more expressive. I also looked to the scale of her work, some being similar to mine and others being much smaller. I was informed by Skantze's work and decided to make a few smaller pieces. One element I would like to bring to my own work would be the expression and character in Skantze's pieces, I will try to do this through adding stitching and more detail.
