Mannequin Arm

I made this piece by painting exaggerated skin tones directly onto the mannequin arm, I then displayed the arm in the Shaun Project Space critique, it was shown on the floor. After the critique I had moved the piece to one side and thought nothing more of it. A few weeks later I found a piece of rope which I thought complimented the colours of the arm. I decided to wrap one side of the rope along the join between the hand and wrist and the other along the shoulder, I then suspended the arm from the floor. I think the way a piece of work is displayed plays an important role in how the piece is perceived. By suspending the arm it heightened the eerie atmosphere of the piece as a detached arm swinging mid air is unusual and unsettling.
